STARTS TONIGHT!
WEBSITE: http://stream.tbpcullman.com

Well hello everyone! How's it going?

Last summer, some friends and I hosted the 72 Hour SNES Fest, and a ton of TSG Community members helped us out by gaming, commentating, chatting, watching, and donating to the great Make-A-Wish Foundation. After the marathon ended, it seemed like there was some pretty overwhelming support from our viewers for another marathon in the summer of 2012. We talked about it a bit back then, but now I'm ready to officially announce the N64 Galore Benefitting Make-A-Wish!

Now it seems like there's still a good ways away from the marathon, considering it isn't until the summer, but I felt personally it was a good time to get some planning going as I approach my 1 year anniversary with TSG.

One big thing that I'd like to stress for the N64 Galore is community involvement. Back during the SNES Fest, we had some great turnout from this Community not just in gaming or commentating but in viewership and donating. I think that this year we can be even more successful than last year! In that first marathon, we raised over $600 for that great charity, and I know that we can surpass that this time!

64? I'm so in. I'd love to help out in every way; whether it's oping, commentary or gaming.

I'd love to play a good number of 64 games. I'd be willing to kick in SBK 1 or 2, OoT, MM, DK64, Pokemon stadium 2 (gym leader castle with my crystal team), Yoshi story or Pokemon snap.

Of course, this is all tentative like the ff marathon. I graduate on June 1st so I'll have to see what I'm doing after that.

Awesome! I'll put you down right now for Yoshi's Story, Stadium 2 (really looking forward to that one), and SBK (I assume Snowboard Kids? correct me if I'm wrong :/) 1 and 2 and to commentate. How does that sound?

And don't feel bad if anything changes. Plans can easily change in 6 months, so no worries. _awesome_

Ok, I definitely want in on this. I can probably do Super Mario 64, Pokemon Stadium 1, and maybe Conkers Bad Fur Day, if that game isn't off limits. Also, I can definitely commentate, and op. BTW, thanks for telling me this on Twitter.

I'll get you down for commentating and opping, and I'll put you on the list for SM64 and Conker's. I'll put you down for Stadium 1, too. Is that going to be just the Gym Leader Castle or some minigames or what's the plan for that one?

i'd like to play zelda ocarina of time and commentate.

I can do the gym leader castle, and if there's time the stadium cups, and maybe the minigames for filler

Sounds good Nicky.

I put you down, MegaKid, too.

Also, OoT is one of the few games that I'm open to having 2 or 3 different people do (possibly a race?) if they have pretty quick times. Plus, I'll need backups anyway, so if you see a game you want taken already go ahead and say something.

Looks like Pkmnfan took the title I wanted, Yoshi's Story. In that case, I guess I'd like to play Harvest Moon 64, Diddy Kong Racing, and Wonder Project J2.

JasefWisener
12-08-2011, 09:02 PM

Ummm....
Is this even a question?? It was a pleasure for Gridlock and I to commentate during the SNES fest and it would be an honor to do it again this summer. Sign us up for a tentative shift, things may change before then...but in all honesty there are two words that need be said....

Probably Claire A then Leon B.
I just remembered it's an 18 though so if that's a problem with anyone I'll play probably bugs life or something else instead.

It'll be alright. I'm going to allow Conker's, so RE2 will for sure be ok. I'll probably just put a note on the schedule when we have certain games. No harm done.

Blaumagier
12-11-2011, 09:22 PM
If he's allowing Conker, then I think anything is fair game. Easily the dirtiest, most (im)mature, immoral, adult oriented game on the N64.

maybe we could have donates to do some option areas in the race and other optional stuff ie epona, big goron sword.

edit my route will have 2 glitches used 1 minor 1 item glitch (it can be fixed). it still beats the game with all dungeons beat but make one easier a time saver.

This sounds cool. I can for sure commentate, maybe even co-comm in a Skype call if anyone's up for it that'd be cool to.

As for gaming, possibly. If I am able to, I'd love to play Zelda: Majora's Mask and/or Star Fox 64. If I do Star Fox 64, I'd probably go through twice, that way I can do both versions of Venom and maybe do the route ENTIRELY different each time.

Oh! And if you get someone to do Banjo-Kazooie, I'd also be happy to do Tooie. Again, these gaming ideas are tentative, but for now just let me know what you think.

JasefWisener

Awesome! I'll get you down to commentate and leave the possibility open to co-commentate with a skype call. I've got someone already for StarFox, but I'll have you as a backup if that's ok in case anything goes wrong.

I'll DEFINITELY get you down for Majora's Mask. I've been hoping someone would call that one. I'll also put you down for Tooie, but I'll make a note that it will only be if someone calls BKazooie.

And I know how you feel about your Yellow file. I've restarted every Pokemon game I've ever owned multiple times except for my copy of Blue that I've had since 2000. Nothing's ever happening to that file.

Question: My cousin, Noah Guthrie (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAhdzFB5_UE) has recently become somewhat of a YouTube sensation, and he's opened for Selena Gomez in concert a few times (he's managed by Selena's parents). Things would have to work out well, but what would you guys think of possibly getting a short (30 minutes or so) private online "concert" from him sometime during the marathon? I'm leaving it up to you guys before I work on getting in touch with him, so just let me know what you think.

*bursts through door to the chat*

Sorry I'm late to the party. About a month late from the topic's creation, am I right?

Anyways, you can put me down as a tentative Chat OP if you would. I would offer to play a game, but unfortunately I have no means to stream anything from my TV, so I'd be forced to blah blah blah emulators blah blah blah whatever.

But since it's in June and I have free time galore I should be at the marathon pretty much 16 hours a day (or at least have a tab with the marathon open 16 hours a day). Fun times.

JasefWisener
02-07-2012, 05:18 PM
Definitely!

For chat ops, I'll say this again since it's been a while. As we get closer, I'll look at the list and choose 5 or 6 people to op. As more become needed, I'll start picking people that are on my list.

But will you be fast enough in those N64 games during the marathon. WE SHALL SEE.

JasefWisener
02-07-2012, 05:26 PM
Haha, we'll see how it goes.

If you decide you'd like to play a game, I'm not opposed to emulators at all. During the SNES Fest last year, there were plenty of games that I emulated and streamed on my Wii even if I owned a SNES copy. I know I'll be doing the same thing for some games this year. My general policy for emulators in a marathon is "Don't Ask, Don't Tell".

Marche100
02-07-2012, 06:43 PM
Oh, in that case I'll play something.

But give me a day or so to figure out what. I need to make sure that there won't be any lag issues/severe graphical issues (or something stupid like that) before I say I'm going to play a certain game.

Edit:

Hold up, I just thought of a game I own that no one else has called yet and is a really great game, nonetheless (take that all you people who took all of the obviously fantastic games).

Put me down (tentatively) for Rayman 2: The Great Escape. One of my favorite games as a kid.

Also, this post officially has too many parentheses (or not).

The only thing I can think of is school, which ties me up from 7 AM to 3 PM (we're talking EST here). That, and since it'll basically be the end of the year, I'll probably have some finals to worry about, although those shouldn't put a massive dent in time I can spend being there.

However, unless I'm playing on one of the weekend days I might have to split my Rayman 2 run into a 2 day run. I have no idea of how long the game will take to beat, though, so maybe not. Just thinking about it.

I've been talking with the guys about things we'd like to do for the marathon, and we've come up with an idea.

We've decided to set our donation goal at $1000 this year. That seems like a lot, and it is (in comparison, the SNES Fest last summer only raised $600). As a special incentive to reach our goal, we've decided that we will add an additional 12 hours to the N64 Galore if the goal is reached by the end of the regular schedule. We would take a break after the end (10pm CST on Monday) and come back on Tuesday from 10am-10pm for some extra time to just have fun with games.

So, we've got a hefty goal ahead of us, but I would love to be able to extend this thing. And just think: wouldn't it be amazing to be able to say that you helped raise $1000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation?

Haha it isn't too early, but I'm not going to put you down just yet. I'm going to send out a PM either late this week or next week to everyone that's pre-signed up to commentate so that we can start working on the commentary schedule.

To help you out, though, the OoT race will be from (all times CST) 9am-9pm on Saturday June 2, and Paper Mario will be played at 3am-6am on Friday June 1. Commentating shifts will be open for Paper Mario and for the 2 middle shifts (of 3 hours each) of the OoT race. We're doing in-house commentary from 9am-12pm and 6pm-9pm.

That at least gives you some time to think about when you want to sign up. I think I'll start by allowing people to sign up for up to 3 shifts.

Paper Mario is going to be played for just one shift? Isn't the game longer than three hours, even for the fastest speed runs? Or is the game not being played all the way through?

I was honestly hoping I could get a shift during Paper Mario, but if there is only one shift, I guess Muzy could have it.

JasefWisener
02-28-2012, 07:50 PM
Right now, Paper Mario is only one shift, so it won't be completed. Now, if Harvestmoon87 would like to do another shift of it, then I'm glad to fit it into the schedule.

diddyknux
02-28-2012, 10:19 PM
This is probably something to set up proper through PMs, but can players set up donation bonuses/challenges for their runs? You know, say the viewers raise $100 by a certain point, we show off something/do something from the game that's difficult that we hadn't planned on doing? Or maybe just announce them ourselves at the beginning of our runs. Whichever. Or Neither. I'm just kicking ideas around.

JasefWisener
02-28-2012, 10:26 PM
I'm up for stuff like that if you guys want. I know last year I allowed people to donate to name the characters in Chrono Trigger, and Kat did the same thing with FFIII. I'm all for stuff like that, but you should just keep in mind that, while I would be so happy reaching crazy donation totals that I'd probably run naked down the street, our $1000 goal for the marathon is pretty high for a community marathon, so make sure any goals that you set can be realistically met.

That seemed more difficult than I wanted it to be. Simply, make goals all you want (and let me know, of course), but just make sure they're realistic.

JasefWisener
02-28-2012, 10:31 PM
Rethinking what I just wrote, another idea would be to set broader goals for games. For example, you play Majora's Mask on Sunday at 9am. One thing you could do is say that if, when you start playing MM, donations are at, say, $475 (a little over what it will hopefully be at), then you would do something(s) that you hadn't planned to do.

jefferlope
02-28-2012, 10:32 PM
I planned on playing Kirby 100% (thus fighting the secret final boss and getting the true ending), but I could make that a donation incentive if you'd like?

I planned on playing Kirby 100% (thus fighting the secret final boss and getting the true ending), but I could make that a donation incentive if you'd like?

Completely up to you. PERSONALLY, I'd love something like that. At the same time, I remember struggling to reach $600 in the SNES Fest, so I just worry that people may be a little...over zealous with their expectations.

I feel like I sound as if I don't think we'll reach our goal. Quite the opposite. I think that this amazing Community can do some amazing things, and I 100% believe that reaching $1000 in 100 hours is completely doable. I also think that the prize raffles we'll be having and individual incentives can really help that.

One way to ensure we get to these donation incentives that I know we all want to reach is to simply promote, promote, promote. I'm promoting like crazy, but I'm also on the TSG Marketing team and we're right in the middle of doing Pokemon marathon promotion as well as planning some great events for you guys, so I can only do so much.

Also, I can't remember if I said this already (and I'm too tired to go back and look), but the chip-in on the site is open from now until June 5th. I did this so that people can donate even if they won't be available that week (so they can do it early) and for people that can't donate larger amounts at once but would like to spread out donations over a few weeks (like me).

Or, you know, if anyone just feels like donating early. Whatever, ya'll.

Anything that you can do is great. I've made posts about it on other forums that I visit (which, admittedly, are few and far between), so that's a good idea.

One note about embedding: if you embed or suggest others to, I urge you to mention the website next to the stream (since we're using 3 separate streams, only one of which will have commentary). But still, feel free.

Oh, certainly. I completley understand and agree with that.

I'd probably do both, with the Dragon Kazooie goal lower then the Canary Mary one. Dragon Kazooie is an optional but cool transformation that requires a little bit of out of the way exploration, while Canary Mary is a race for a Jiggy that is notoriously difficult. They aren't actually related to each other, though, if that's what you mean.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

I just realized that I signed up late last year to take the SAT's on June 2nd, which I'm scheduled to play on, so I can't play Rayman 2 Part 2 then.

Is there anyone that could switch with me or something? I can only take the 3-6 or 6-9 (pm) shifts on weekdays and the 3-6 or 6-9 shift on Sunday. Saturday, June 2nd (the day I'm taking the SAT's), I could probably do any shifts after noon, but you've got nothing but Ocarina of Time pretty much all Saturday, so I'm guessing those are out of the question.

Man, this sucks. I can't believe that I didn't think of that before today. Hopefully it'll all work out.

Edit: HOLD ON. I SEE THERE'S AN OPEN SPOT NEXT TO SUPER MARIO 64 ON JUNE 4TH FROM 3-6 PM. DIBS.

That should take care of things.

Jasef, I did start playing Sin & Punishment the other day, but it's hard to say if I'll be able to get back to it to finish it before the marathon. I played it long enough to learn the game has some tricky stuff in it, so if it ends up being a blind run, I will only play it for the scheduled time. Same goes for Wonder Project J2 if the extra day happens. For that matter, the same goes for Harvest Moon 64, but that's only because it is a long game. I actually have beaten it a few times.

Alright guys, we're at the home stretch. Today marks the beginning of May, so we are literally less than a month away from the start of the N64 Galore! I can't tell you guys how excited I am for this to start!

One thing I need from you, and I feel horrible for asking, is that we fill up (at least most of) the remaining commentary and gaming slots. What isn't filled will most likely have to be covered by me and my in-house crew, and we're going to be running on limited sleep and real jobs throughout the marathon. So we need all the help we can get! Let's make this marathon awesome!

There's no other games for the n64 I'm particularly good at that aren't taken though so I'll just take one for the team and do superman 64.
