Before turkey a couple [dedicated] friends and I played some soccer just as the first flakes of snow started to fall over Regina.

It started slow:

Then after only 90 minutes:

Since then we've got probably 8-10 cm of it on the ground. Of course it'll probably be gone in a couple days.

Zach is correct. I was the first to this one because I infiltrated through... er, became friends with Local, and learnt about it early.

Actually, looking at the old member list it looks like Ferenc was the first Canadian to join, just after the first Zelda Marathon.

This is no time for a power struggle though, when we're so close to completing our mission. I would happily be the leader, but if there is too much opposition then I will consider a coalition. :P

Why does everything in Canada cost more than in the U.S.A.?

That's because Canada has its own dollar, it's not the same as the US. It also fluctuates. For most of the past several years the Canadian dollar has been worth somewhere around 80 cents to one American dollar. It is at around that level right now. This past summer though, because of the American recession, our dollar was worth as much as $1.20 American.

Now the companies selling products in both countries need to print the labels, so this summer we were, based on conversion, paying 40% more than we should have been. This caused a lot of complaints, and more Canadians travelling to the states for big purchases.

As much as I like a strong Canadian dollar, my wage actually lowered during the summer since I work for and am paid by Americans.

Yep, they print it at least a month before they start going on sale, at a point when the dollar may be quite different. Then when the dollar is high they don't want to lower the Canadian rate in case it drops again. Either way they screw us.

Since my history teacher is Canadian I am mildly Canadian by proximity :]

Not really, obviously. I think I offended him though. Because it was about 19 degrees and he was saying stuff about it being cold and I made the remark "Hmm.. well, you're from the land of badgers, moose, and bagged milk.. I thought you'd be used to this by now." o_o'

The closest to Canadians I get though would be speaking some French and saying "Y'know" a lot. That's out of my own insecurity of people not following my trains of thought though.

hmm well I have heard almost every Canadian joke cause I do have X-Box live so there are a lot of ignorant people so I hear a lot of generalization and racist comments about any one basically. I don't know what is so funny about being racist it just isn't funny it is just plain wrong. And who ever plays X-Box live frequently you would know what comments people make...

Yeah, that's pretty insulting. The typical way to address a Canadian is like this: "You grew up where there are no police, only mounties who paddle canoes in rivers of maple syrup with hockey sticks for oars, right?".

That way they'll know you know a lot about their culture. :P JUST KIDDING

That teacher I mentioned had a quiz due tonight by midnight for his class, right? So one of the questions was about why Martin Luther didn't like the Pope. There were a couple of reasonable answers and then "He didn't like hats." I kid you not. I kind of had to laugh at that just a little.

I say 'eh' a lot. It's very convenient, why would I say 'so what do you think?' when I could make a monosyllabic noise instead?

It's a reflex, like saying 'sorry'. I'll brush up against someone in the subway and then apologize without really thinking about it. It's weird.

I will make her an honourary Canadian.
How did the difference in spelling come about any way?
It was all the Americans. They revolted from the British and I guess hated them so much some guy named Webster (as in the dictionary) decided to change up the language, including removing a lot of U's and pronouncing Zed as Zee. Canada never separated from Briton, thus never changed up the language, though we were granted full independence in 1982.

what are the ingredients for poutine???

sounds yummy! ithink...
All you need are French Fries. You then cover those fries with grated cheese, and cover that with hot gravy, melting the cheese. In fact, I actually had poutine last night as part of my birthday supper! :D
then i have had it once!!!!

i. want. MOAR!

Blend it and add some cream, we can call it "Cream of Poutine Soup"

Hey, Canada makes games as well, like Puffins: Island Adventure (http://kotaku.com/5132030/finally-a-ds-game-about-puffins)...

Seriously though, Ubisoft has makes a lot of their games in Montreal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubisoft_Montreal), including Tom Clancy titles, all the recent Prince of Persia games and Assassin's Creed. Then there's BioWare (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bioware) (now owned by EA :() who created Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic and Mass Effect.
