I played clarinet for grade 6, because they wouldn't let me start on Alto Sax, and they refuse to let violin's in.

I guess..
That reminds me... I just started randomly playing this tune in my head today during warmup. At lunch while listening to some Hemispheres I learned that I was playing the Strangianto Theme from Rush's La Villa Strangianto Song.

Let me tell you, playing that on a sax is hard, especially without the sheet music for it. Such a weird fingering workout, all them sharps.

USE 12/8 TIME!
DO EET!
(I think Geddy Lee is the only bassist who uses 12/8 timings instead of 4/8 or 4/4.. That's why people don't like Rush.)

Christmas brought in a few new items for my drum kit, so here is its current form:
http://img368.imageshack.us/img368/6456/1000515oi1.jpg
It contains:
- Pearl Forum 14'' Snare
- Pearl Forum 12'' Tom
- Pearl Forum 13'' Tom
- Pearl Forum 16'' Floor Tom
- Pearl Forum 22'' Bass Drum
- Paiste PST-3 13'' Hi-Hat
- Paiste PST-3 18'' Crash/Ride
- Paiste PST-3 16'' Crash (New)
- Pulse B857 14'' Crash (New)
- Cowbell (New; in the background, since it won't attach to anything at the moment)

While my parents ordered a Paiste PST-3 20'' Ride online at Guitar Center, the order was goofed up, and a 15'' Zildjian Light Crash was sent out instead (not seen in this picture). Hopefully that can be returned and replaced with relative ease, so I can stick to cymbals mostly in the PST-3 family.

"Antonius Stradivarius Cremonenlis
Faciebat Anno 1713"
Not sure exactly what the first line means, but I think it's self-explanatory.
As for the second, it literally translates to "Was made in year 1713" for us, made in 1713. Just wanted to show off some of my Latin I learned in school (Latin 3). :D

As for the instruments I play... well there's a lot. I'm a band geek, that's for sure.

Play well:
Trombone
Baritone
Tuba
Percussion

Can physically pick-up, play, and know kinda what I'm doing:

Piano
Tin Whistle
Piano Accordion
Didgeridoo (although I haven't touched it in ages!)

Well, I play the piano for about 12 years now. I used to play a lot of classical music referring to Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Haydn etc. but after stopping taking my lessons I tend to play a lot more jazz and latin music. Today I am the one giving lessons to my students :D

Yea, it's not that hard to play the Ocarina songs. Here's all you need to know:
C ^ = D
C < = B
C > = A
C v = F
A = D

All are natural, all are for C instruments (aka concert pitch).
If anyone needs me to transpose, just ask.
You'll have to figure out the full song through trial and error or by looking up the sheet music, but those are the notes the Ocarina uses.

Okay, it should be in the key of D for you. That would make it:
C^ = F#
C< = D
C> = C#
CV = A
A = F#
At least I think that's what it would be. If it sounds off, experiment a little bit. It should be pretty close to that.

I've upgraded my drum kit quite a bit since my last post/picture/account. I took this photo a couple months ago, but not much has changed since then:
http://i28.tinypic.com/260e7pj.jpg

Pearl Forum 14'' snare, 12'' and 13'' toms, 16'' floor tom, and 22'' kick.
Paiste PST-3 13'' hi-hat, 16'' crash, 18'' crash/ride, and 20'' ride.
Paiste Alpha 10'' splash.
Pulse B-857 14'' crash.
Random cowbell which I have removed for now.
Random egg shakers which were there just for some more color in the photograph.

Remo Pinstripe head on the batter side of the snare, Remo Emperors on the tom batter heads, stock Pearl heads on the kick drum and all of the resonant heads.

That is all the information you ever need to know about my kit.

When I was a kid I used to take piano lessons, but I didn't really enjoy it. I think I quit about a year after starting them.

I played the clarinet at my school back in Japan. Freshman year I was first chair for the intermediate-level band :3

Also, my aunt as well as a few friends taught me how to play the guitar.

I play numerous instruments.

I guess my primary would be Bass guitar. I play for a local band that doesn't invite me to practices and makes me improvise. Arseholes they are.

Bass:
[spoiler:1ssttalf]http://img3.musiciansfriend.com/dbase/pics/products/8/9/7/551897.jpg[/spoiler:1ssttalf]

Secondary is guitar. I'm writing out all of my own songs, and if I get ahold of a willing recording studio, I intend on becoming a solo artist. (No specific genre. My songs so far vary from punk-pop to screamo. Unique, eh?)

One of Numerous Guitars:

I play a few instruments, such as:
Guitar
Bass
Drums
Flute
and I sing a whole ton (that counts, right?)

As for the instruments I own: I can't take pictures right now, but I can find pictures online of them, so here we go:

Guitar - Gibson Les Paul Studio (Yes, I have a Les Paul, it's an amazing guitar):
http://profile.ultimate-guitar.com/profile_mojo_data/2/4/4/5/244543/pics/_c446202_image_0.JPG

Bass - Fender Bullet Bass
http://www.jpstingrayguitars.com/fender%20pre%20bass%201983%20blk.jpg

I don't actually own a drum set, and I think you all know what a flute looks like, so we'll leave it at that.

I always wanted to learn to play the flute, and I took a class for a little while in the fifth grade. Unfortunately, I am allergic to nickel, which happens to be a part of what they use to make the mouthpieces for flutes. My lips and chin would break out in a rash, so... flute was out. I have tried so many ways to get around the allergy, but I haven't found anything that doesn't damage or affect the sound of the flute.

So now I have been learning to play ocarinas instead. They still have a wonderful flute-like sound (they are a type of chamber flute, after all), and, best of all, they don't have any nickel on them whatsoever. And honestly, I find them a lot easier and more fun to play than the flute, so it's a win-win. Also... ocarinas were featured in and made famous by Zelda. In my opinion, an instrument can't get much more awesome than that.

Picture of my ocarinas (yes, they're all ocarinas, just different types of them; ocarinas come in many different shapes, sizes, and colors, and there are other types besides the ones I have):
[spoiler:3iu6vj78]http://img441.imageshack.us/img441/2423/ocarinas002b.jpg[/spoiler:3iu6vj78]
I have:
*Two 12-hole transverse (a.k.a. "Sweet Potato") Alto C ocarinas (the large one with the butterflies and the teardrop-shaped turquoise one)
*One 12-hole transverse Soprano C ocarina (the smaller "Sweet Potato" ocarina with the flowers on it)
*One 6-hole English Pendant Alto C Ocarina (the egg-shaped one with the butterflies on it)
*One 6-hole English Pendant Soprano C Ocarina (the roundish one in the center with the flowers on it)
*One 4-hole English Pendant Soprano C Ocarina (the one that looks like a lemon)
*One hand-made (but not by me) 4-hole English Pendant Alto C Ocarina (the green one with the maple leaf on it)

man, ocarinas look cool! i wonder which one i should get.... *rolls eyes to sonic62*...
Ocarinas are cool! They're so much fun to play and are quite possibly one of the easiest instruments to learn. You should definitely get one if you haven't already (I realize your post was made a long time ago). I know you were asking for sonic62's opinion, but would you mind if I gave you a suggestion, too?

I would suggest checking out the ocarinas from Focalink (http://www.focalink.com.tw/). Shipping costs are high, but they ship really, really fast, so it's worth it. Their ocarinas are reasonably priced and are outstandingly high-quality. And if you email Zack Shih (the guy that runs the store) you can ask to get an ocarina custom painted. The two ocarinas I have with butterflies on them were custom painted for me. The other white hand-painted ocarinas are designs that he regularly sells, but were specifically requested by me (he has lots of other beautiful designs, too, just ask!). It usually costs about an extra $10 for a custom design, (give or take depending on the difficulty of the design you want). Focalink is where I got all of my ocarinas except for the small green one (which I got from a Renaissance Fair) and the turquoise one (which came from STL ocarinas, and I don't like it anywhere near as much as my Focalinks, although it is still pretty nice).

Whoa, sorry for the super-long post everyone. I'll stop now. ^^;;

So, my main instrument is my own voice.

I also play bass guitar, piano, and trumpet.
I played trumpet through high school and learned to play bass guitar through worship band at church, which I am now the Worship Leader for the Young Adult ministry at my church. I play piano in my spare time, nothing truly fancy, but I can get some chords out and actually play songs.

But thankfully for Christmas i got the Casio Privia PX-130. Which is amazing! So now I'm playing that like crazy and relearning all the songs I already knew, but this time with dynamics and stuff.

Instruments I'd like to learn: I'd like to be good at playing guitar, but I can't stand trying to teach myself it. I have tried many times and always got bored. Learning drums would also be fun, but they need a lot of room so....yeah

There's always electronic drums you can learn. If they're placed in a secluded spot, they're not nearly as loud as real drums. In a public place, however, they could be more annoying.

I played 2 versions of the same instrument while in marching band in my senior year. (it was set up to be like a drum corps, so it was intense)

Here's the marching baritone:
Look at it (http://palmwindsmusic.com/Product/PW10001-MarchingBakitoneHorn.html)

And here's the second version called the Euphonium:

I have a very on off relation with drumming, though I'm in band at my school so I stick with it through a majority of the time, and I was learning trombone at the beginning of the year because we were short on people for that for some reason, wait no it's because before auditions for the higher band we had 13ish percussionists :P But then the trombone got taken out for repairs, never to be seen again....:/

I play a Walden Acoustic (solid top, laminate back and sides, chinese made; nothing too special, but sounds pretty darn good) and a Mexi Fender Telecaster through a Fender Bassman. Just got an Ibanez Tube Screamer, too. Sounds awesomeeee.

Yay meh pictures, but I'm too tired to take new pics, haha.

I also play Violin. No pics of that, though. Maybe I'll get pics of the Walden sometime later.

Wow, another ocarinist! Awesome! That looks like one of the older models from Songbird Ocarinas. Is it? How many holes does it have? It looks awesome. 8-)
Cool, a fellow Ocarina player, though honestly I haven't played in a while.
That is indeed where I got my Ocarinas and they have 4 holes in the front, 1 in back.
:D
I too play Ocarina. I have the extended range ocarina from SongBird Ocarinas. I played trombone back in Highschool, but I haven't even touched the thing since 2007. I also have a cheap electric guitar. I don't play it that often. In fact I don't even know how. One of my brothers plays Trumpet and a little bit of Viola. My next little brother has a drum set, but he doesn't use it that often. He's a percussionist in band. Another brother plays baritone. Musical family.

I play trumpet and guitar, and I'll eventually teach myself piano. Now since I no longer take band in high school, I find any music I want to learn which is mostly video game related. The only reason I want to play piano is because of the O.C remix of "The Passing of the Blue Crown" in Mega Man 3. I'm a music nerd, and I love it.

Good little trick to play the high notes on trumpet is to play a lower instrument first for about 15 minutes, or at least that's how I got to the point where I could play F above the staff easily.

^Same here. I love the drums, but I don't have the money or space to buy a drum set. I guess I could try to find one of those electronic drum sets that you can use with headphones, but nothing beats the feel of the real thing.

I play the trumpet, I am still trying to play good enough so I can play really high notes. 8-)

I did this when I was first beginning, drink a little bit of lemon juice before you play. It helps you get your mouth in position for those higher notes.

Hmm, I play the piano, violin, and eventually, the guitar, whenever my mom or dad can buy one for me, or something of that sort. I've played piano for about 7 years, and violin for about 2 years, although I progress on the violin fast because it's easy to note-read and stuff because of me playing piano. Don't have pictures of my instruments, but my piano is Yamaha, but don't know what type of violin mine is... :D

I sort of play the drums. I used to for my school, but I absolutely hated the songs that we played and I hated the teacher that we had.

Can't say I play the drums much anymore, but I play Rock Band sometimes and I only play the drums. Unlike the guitar, you actually can learn some stuff from playing the drums in Rock Band, which I have, so I assume I'm better at it now than I once was. The most important thing I learned from it was how to use both your hands and your foot to play the drums together, which I used to not be able to do at all due to my inability to do two different things at once.(Alot better than when we were playing terrible songs in school that nobody wants to listen to, that's for sure.)

In any case, I used to play drums in a school band and now I automatically assume I'm better at it after having gone from easy in Rock Band to expert. (That has to say SOMETHING at least).

I mainly play guitar. I currently have a Squire Affinity Series Telecaster, and I love it. <3 Eventually I'm gonna save up to buy a higher quality guitar, but I must say, this guitar has served me very well for years now. I've grown rather attached to it. I'll post a picture later on, since I can't seem to find my photo of it on my computer right now.

I also play piano/keyboard quite a bit too. I want to learn a few other instruments someday, like bass guitar, harmonica, saxophone, and maybe drums. My dream is to be a professional composer someday anyway, so here's to hoping!

These are my two guitars. (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v222/Ninjabob/Photo0122.jpg) The electric is an epiphone G400, which is pretty decent for the money. The acoustic is an ibanez starter that I got ~5 and a half years ago, not really my favorite. Good for when I was learning, but I'm not fond of the tone and playing electric so much has nearly ruined me from playing acoustic.

Today I also put a Royal Blue PRS SE Custom 24 (http://www.samash.com/p/CM25%2025th%20Anniversary%20SE%20Custom%2024%20Ele ctric%20Guitar%20Assorted%20Colors_1077693) on reserve at my local Sam Ash. They had just gotten it in this week, and it had never been opened until I asked about it. He opened the box, unzipped the gig bag it comes in and I fell in love. The most beautiful and fun to play guitar I've ever touched. Wasn't really planning on getting it, but I just had to after getting my hands on it. Should be picking it up tomorrow. Also, the pictures online really don't do it justice, it's much better looking in person.

I played Piano (about a year and maybe a half: stopped) , Saxophone (2 years: stopped) and now about to play Violin ^^

I don't hate it, I really like playing instruments it's I can't really remember... or maybe I do.

Piano I had to quit because I don't really remember why it was something urgent that I have to stop...

Saxophone I had to quit because it was heavy and I'm a VERY clumsy person so the bottom buttons messed up and even if I DO fix it, I can't play it because it's "too loud" -__-;

I use to play piano for a few years, but then I got tired of it and started playing guitar.

I also use to be really into singing, but I kinda stopped after a while, because of confidence issues and such >.<

I still try and play guitar as much as I can, but I haven't been able to play the piano for a while, which kinda sucks !
