The ChipIn IS UP!!! So if you have donated for the current Final Fantasy Marathon than please post in this thread! We love keeping track of forum members who donate and also so we can get you your donator medal!

If you do post in this thread and your name (the name that you donated under) is unknown by the mods/admins who are awarding the medal then please keep an eye on your forum inbox to verify your information so that we know we are awarding the correct people the medals.

If you donate you DO NOT have to give your name (that you donated under) out or anything. But if you do want a medal than you will have to verify some information before the medal is awarded. This is to make sure that the correct people are given credit. If you do choose to verify your information so that you can get your medal, your name and anything else that is said between you and the person you are verifying it with is kept personal. (Your name is safe with us!) Also just as another little side note these medals will hold more purposes than just looking awesome soon enough so keep collecting them!!!

Cmon you awesome donators! Lets see some posts so we can tell you how awesome you are!

Dang Phil, you donated that much? That's awesome! I think when my mom gets home, before we're off to VGL, we'll donate.

Then well also donate again during the marathon, for the prizes I assume. And Chase, fingers crossed you pronounce my mom's name right this time. She 'honestly' gets mad when you say it as "Gar-C-uh".

Just click it and a little box pops up.
No, sorry Bear, but that's not it. The special instructions will be seen by ACT Today, because we're using their email address, sending donations directly to them. You must follow through, and be returned to a ChipIn page, where a comment can be entered. That is all we have access to.

I should have taken screen caps while I was donating. :?

Well, it works every time we can't have donations go straight to the charity. The ChipIn account is always ours, but the PayPal is not necessarily.

I'm sorry, Matches, it really was my bad. It doesn't happen very often that I am right, I was just hoping this would be one of those instances. xD
Apologies all around! <3

Why 6$? For the awesome 6th Harry Potter movie I'm seeing tonight. _awesome_

Bear, this is not the first time, but one of the few that the PayPal account isn't Britt's.

Even when going to TSG, I (the one usually giving medals) only see the ChipIn stuff. If in doubt, send the comment on both pages!

MSico
07-14-2009, 04:31 PM
WAIT. So we aren't going to see the comments people leave, but ACT Today is?

Good... at least that won't come back to bite me... if no one I know is going to see it.

What the heck it's up already??

This marathon, I'm going to try and donate. I just need a card to do so.
I promise $20+.

I also need to figure out how the chip-in works...

Off Topic Alert:
Matches, my avatar looks a little... ironic being under yours... same pose... weird.

This should basically say how: http://www.thespeedgamers.com/faq#visa-gift-card

Be careful about the cards you buy. I bought a Master Card (I believe) pre-payed gift card last time and it did not work.

Phil and his donation amount.

S'all good! <3 's to u, Matches.

Well Nico, as you can see, my track record isn't exactly great today...but I'm looking for a chance to redeem myself here, so is there any particular part of the ChipIn that's giving you trouble? There's some info in the FAQ (That Mega M has linked while I was typing this xD), and ChipIn has its own FAQ (http://faq.chipin.com/) which may be of some help as well.

NicoCW

Thanks for the tips, guys. I'll be sure to NOT use Master Card.

StopDropAndBear

I'm still trying to figure out which cards will work and which don't (some credit card companies have like, a billion different types of prepaid cards available, it gets confusing as all getout trying to distinguish the differences between each one @_@)...maybe we can someday compile a list of specific types which people have used and can confirm will work properly. There should be at least some type of Master Card prepaid which should do the trick, but as Mario can attest...some don't. Always be sure to check the fine print on the card you're buying, some will say "This is NOT a credit/debit card" or something to that extent, and those are the ones that will not allow you to make online purchases.

And as always, when in doubt...Google. :)

To be noted, nowhere on the packaging was that phrase. ("This is NOT a credit/debit card.")
The card was sealed in a packaging unable to be seen unless opened.
Be cautious.

Oh, and for those curious, I think it was used at Staples (in-store purchase).

StopDropAndBear
07-14-2009, 09:10 PM
Packaging? That's weird, I've never seen then in any kind of packaging, I've only ever just seen the hanging on a carousel/on hooks behind the register..
You don't still have the card, do you? Can you remember exactly what it was called or what it looked like?

Tons of places, Easy, your best bet is a drug store most likely (like Shoppers or Pharma Plus). Depends on the size of the store, the bigger ones have entire racks dedicated to prepaid cards for any and everything under the sun. If you don't see them there, then check behind the cashier.

Hm... No, I do not.
It was in, I guess you would say it was enclosed in a sealed envelope.

Note: This is the kind you do NOT want to purchase.
[spoiler:22u5bz4x]Here is a picture from the website.
I believe it looks similar, except it had a different denomination in the corner.

I'll be donating more this marathon. Please make it to FF7. I'll be happy if you can make it that far. I'm serious guys, you won't complete all 12 games in a week. But by all means defy the laws of space and time! You guys beat all Mario games in less than 24 hours, you beat Zelda. I hope Square is watching this!

JaggerG
07-16-2009, 03:30 AM
sagema, perhaps you over-estimate the final fantasy games. I'm guessing 7's gonna be started on Monday at the latest. They're thinking they're at least going to get TO 12.

Besides, some people think it takes over an hour and a half to beat Bomberman 64. ;^)

Didn't know about this community till during the Mario Marathon last week. However being a fan of FF and having had friends with children with Autism I found I had no choice but to donate.

Beyond that it has inspired me to complete the rest of the FF Warriors of Light.

With that being said White Mage, Black Mage and a Pair of Dragon Quest Slimes wish you luck!

07-18-2009, 11:34 AM
Maybe I'm not understanding well, but the thing is, Chase said at the beginning of this thread that donators who wanted the medal had to verify some information with you guys before getting the medal, so I was just wondering what information has to be verified, how and when. I really wish I'd have found out about these marathons sooner, I really dig this sort of thing. I've been watching since sometime in the middle of FF2 (Local was already a zombie). I've donated about $60, in smaller chunks, for various reasons including "just because".

Also, I won a Chocobo plushy. It was really weird hearing my name on the live feed. I was like: "Wait, what?" And then they showed the prizes and I was all: "I want the Chocobo!" and then then the Wheel of Destiny landed on the Chocobo for the other guy and I was disappointed. Then it landed on the Chocobo again for me and I assumed there would be a respin, but I was pleasantly surprised when they said they had 2.

They said my name again earlier today and it still felt weird. Anyways, since this is easily enough information to identify me I may as well give you my name: Tanner Schultz

Forgot to mention my forum name in the comment box, next marathon will be different. :)

Donated under Sam DeRuyck. I think I donated twice towards the beginning of the marathon.

You named the Brothers GF after me in FF8 after I donated a measly $1. I'll donate more during the next marathon after I scrounge up a few more dollars. Promise!
