View Full Version : $50,000!

07-24-2009, 05:05 PM
I know this is probably gonna be locked since they'll probably make an official one later, but I just wanna say thanks to everyone who donated! Thanks to you this has been the most successful marathon by a long shot! Also, all this money went to charity! Thanks a ton to everyone who contributed in some way shape or form. But don't forget! You can still donate until July 27th! So get out there and donate if you haven't and still want to! Thanks to all donators, promoters, ops, etc! Love ya all <3

07-24-2009, 05:28 PM

Omg thank you everyone who donated! This goes to a great cause! I know because my little brother is autistic and this will help a lot of families.

07-24-2009, 05:30 PM
Woot 50k. Next marathon I'm gonna try to get my dad to allow me to donate. This was a good marathon :)

07-24-2009, 05:34 PM
I can't possibly thank each and everyone of you enough for this. 50K is the most amazing thing to see in donations at TheSpeedGamers. We've already got more donations than all our other marathons combined, then doubled the original goal, and we got over our new goal! :D See why I cant thank yall enough?

Great work everyone and these contributions really helped, and are all going straight to ACT Today. Thanks again times 9000.

07-24-2009, 05:36 PM
Thanks everyone so much for donating! I have a friend that's autistic and I'm glad we were able to raise so much money to help so many people like him.

07-24-2009, 05:36 PM
C'mon guys, let's double that and go for $100,000! _dead_

07-24-2009, 05:39 PM
Well done to everyone who donated the $50,000! I unfortunatley could not donate this marathon as I have no money whatsoever. I definatley will have to next Marathon, you can all count on it! :D Let's hit a bigger target next time, even Blow It Away!!!

07-24-2009, 05:42 PM
This marathon was absolutely AMAZING!!! $50,000 and raising; unfortunately I wasn't able to donate, but I still want to thank everyone who did. During the MegaMan marathon, I'm going to try to get an American Express gift card, put money on it, and donate as much as I can!

07-24-2009, 05:42 PM
Wonderful job all! :)

Congrats to tsg, and a big thank you for all the Contributors.

07-24-2009, 05:42 PM
edit: lag is slaughtering me here, :P

Sorry about the double post, but still, congrats and all that.

07-24-2009, 05:43 PM
Great work, everyone! I can't tell you all how happy I am! :D This has been the best marathon so far. I'll never forget it. Again, thanks to all who helped! Hope to see you all in the next marathon! :D

07-24-2009, 05:44 PM
Um, haiku had a double click typo.

Anyways, FORUM PARTY! WOOT! Great Job!

07-24-2009, 05:48 PM
As I said on this post: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3924 (http://forums.thespeedgamers.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3924)

Keep up the great work everyone. Viewers, gamers and commenters all had a big part! :-D

07-24-2009, 05:48 PM
This marathon truly made history. Congrats to all TheSpeedGamers and donators and promoters!!!

07-24-2009, 05:49 PM
Incredible job, everyone. I seriously didn't believe that you could make it over 50,000. Thanks to everybody who donated. I will upload the final minutes later for TSG Replay.

07-24-2009, 05:52 PM
Yes, amazing job everyone!!! We pulled through at the last minute! Can't wait for the next one.

07-24-2009, 05:58 PM
This was incredibly successful. Well done.

07-24-2009, 06:15 PM
Incredible job, everyone. I seriously didn't believe that you could make it over 50,000. Thanks to everybody who donated. I will upload the final minutes later for TSG Replay.
I didn't think they were gonna make it either, but they kept pushing on and they got a sprint of donations. Good job Speed Gamers and everyone that helped out! Can't wait for the Megaman marathon :D .

Gift of Death
07-24-2009, 06:17 PM
Great job with this all. Had great time following progress. ^^
Tho I'm sad I couldn't make a donation there.

07-24-2009, 06:22 PM
The most epic thing that has ever happened = this.

What made it strangely addicting is the way the Gamers interacted with the chat and read out our questions, took our fanart, gave us these glorious forums and prizes. Sure I was sad when my name wasn't read out in the prizes, but I produced the fanart for the gamers, not for the prizes.

You guys are seriously the winrars.

07-24-2009, 06:24 PM
This is so awesome, I cant believe that we actually raised 50K. Thats just ridiculous. All you guys are truly awesome! I love each and every single one of you =D

07-24-2009, 06:29 PM
From all of us in chat 2 (ok, ok, just from me) Congrats on your very successful marathon and I hope it continues on for years to follow, even with jobs and school getting in the way.

07-24-2009, 06:40 PM
I think this is just amazing. =D WAy to go everybody!

07-24-2009, 06:49 PM
I'm so sad that this marathon is over now, but I'm so proud of everyone for donating and making this whole experience worthwhile. Without all of the promoters, donators, commentators, OPs, and the rest of the wonderful community, this marathon would not have been as incredible as it was. We've all pretty much proved that anything is possible if we put the effort forth, and I can't wait to see where we can go in the future.
Congratulations, everyone! :D

07-24-2009, 06:51 PM
congrats to everyone who made this possible, (including, but not restricted to), the promoters, donators, players, news crew, and various websites.

07-24-2009, 06:52 PM
Great job thanks to everybody who donated and this proves that TSG IS AWESOME!

07-24-2009, 07:03 PM
I called that they would make 20k, but 50k...?

Not even if OVER 9000 people donated OVER 9000$ all at the same time while playing ever single Final Fantasy game EVER donated, and then the 7 Sages decided to not make the Master Sword, but instead ALSO donated. Only then would there had been a chance, but they made it anyway, without all that OVER 9000 stuff.

Only problem is is that the forums will be a laggy pool of lag for the next few hours.

But then you just think about the _megaman_ marathon and then glomp.

07-24-2009, 07:16 PM
Amazing job everyone, absolutely amazing. You guys rock!

07-24-2009, 07:23 PM
Well I sadly had to miss the end of the marathon because I was working. Congrats to everyone for reaching the goal! There is no way this would have been doable a year ago. This community has grown a ton since I first joined like 7 months ago, and it just keeps growing every marathon. We may not top this marathon for awhile, but lets keep trying :D

07-24-2009, 07:26 PM
This certantly is one for the books. A Marathon worth remembering! ^^
I'm glad I was there.

07-24-2009, 07:31 PM
Way to go to those who donated and made this possible. It's sad that I am unable to donate for now, but I always show my support by practically living in my computer room and having the stream running constantly, even if I'm sleeping or not there. Congratulations on this extraordinary achievement!!

07-24-2009, 07:37 PM
I couldn't donate this time, but I tweeted around 30 messages. Maybe next time. But still good job guys.

07-24-2009, 07:51 PM
This is truly amazing that we not only passed 20k but 50k. i will admit that i didn't think that they'd reach the 50k but everyone really pulled through at the end. thanks to everyone who donated and i want to see this much success at the mega man marathon!

07-24-2009, 08:11 PM
Wow is all I can say. I never thought gaming could garner so much goodwill. I am so glad I've found this site and this cause and I will be back for every marathon with cash in hand! It was tons of fun.

07-24-2009, 09:08 PM
Awesome marathon!!! Who knew we were able to reach $50k I cannot believe it!!xD Good job everyone

-sidenote I can imagine how long the donater list, will be when it comes out-

07-24-2009, 09:33 PM
All i can say is that i am amazed, i knew we would break 20k easily, but i had never imagined we would hit 50k, i am stumped, taht's how awesome it was.

07-24-2009, 10:20 PM
It's so awesome that the marathon was so successful. Thank you everyone who donated and promoted! I missed the $50,000 mark and the end of the marathon, but the majority of this past week for me was spent watching it. How big will the next week-long marathon be? Now, that's an interesting question. It was definitely the best marathon to date! :D

07-24-2009, 10:22 PM
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't this more than double all the money raised for charities since the beginning of TSG? The last figure I remember was "over $31,000." 50k>31k by a longshot.
This was just flippin' awesome.

07-24-2009, 10:30 PM
Great job, sorry I couldn't donate, but you did make me a member of your forums after only watching like the 1st day of the marathon, and I enjoyed it so much that I do intend to watch more marathons, also if my dad gets a job by the next marathon, you can count on my donation!

07-24-2009, 10:32 PM
I'm in complete awe that we raised this much money. I remember going into the marathon thinking "Wow $20,000 we might get that much by the end"; I never would have thought that we would gain another $30,000! Really you guys are wonderful and every single person that donated should feel incredibly proud of themselves. <3 _megaman_ <3

07-24-2009, 10:40 PM
I thought we wouldn't make it, that was incredible. Congrats, everyone.

07-24-2009, 11:09 PM
An amazing marathon. Great job on getting more than double the intended amount of donations. Here's to future marathons to come :]

Exclamation Point

I was absolutely floored when I came on and saw that the ChipIn widget was updated, not to mention the 20,000 viewers at the time. Never did I think the original mark would be hit so quickly, especially with certain news sites being incredibly ignorant... certain. news. sites.

This marathon is definitely one to be remembered, everything about it was amazing. The runs, the commentating, those crazy shenanigans, the goals, the charity, everything.

Once again, I feel bad for not being able to donate, especially to a charity that strikes very closely. My older brother was diagnosed with autism back when nobody knew a thing about it, growing up with little help from the outside world on any of our problems was tough... I'll just leave my story at that. Now that awareness is out there, aid is willing and ready, it warms my heart. I'm incredibly happy that so many individuals and families won't have to desperately struggle with personal problems or outside affairs.
... I-It's just raining... no srsly it is, when will we get good weather?

07-25-2009, 05:25 AM
1/20 of a million dollars, all done for a good cause, with only the magic of video gaming and great commentating. Magnificently done, and from me; Thank you to the donators.

07-25-2009, 06:40 AM
I didn't think we could make it to 50K because when there was an hour left, there was still 8,000 to be donated.

07-25-2009, 09:37 AM
Heh, when the total was raised to 50,000, I thought there was no way in the world we would reach that goal, but, you guys proved me wrong. Seriously, that was amazing, I'm sure ACT GREATLY will appreciate this.
It's also great that TSG may have gotten a lot more viewers. At the beginning of the marathon, we got excited because we hit 2,000 :P I think we got up to 20,000 at one point...

Anyway, I'm just trying to say you guys are awesome, keep it up!

07-25-2009, 09:42 AM
Was awsome didn't think they were gonna get the 50k there at the end but someone donated a good bit at the very very end. TY to everyone who donated

That's incredible! I always thought TSG would grow into something bigger and I believe this is just the tip of the iceberg. Kudos to the gamers, commentators, Chat Ops, promoters, donaters and so on. They all did an amazing job.

07-25-2009, 10:53 AM
I have to admit, the last few hours even I didn't think we'd hit our $50K goal. But, I never gave up hope and during the donating frenzy of that final hour I knew we'd make it! :D

I don't think I've ever been so pumped up before.

07-25-2009, 11:21 AM
I'm sad I missed the final hours of the marathon, but a little voice inside my head said we would make it to $50,000, and we did. Thank you to everyone who has donated, promoted, and watched this entire week. It's amazing what we can all do.

07-25-2009, 09:16 PM
Amazing job like usual from TSG! It incredible to think not long ago $2k seemed impossible and now they are hitting 50K! Of course none of this could be possible without all the spectacular people that donated to a great cause. I'm sure that ACT will be very surprised whenever they receive the donation money. Still in disbelief myself...

07-25-2009, 09:21 PM
I was severely surprised when we actually hit 50K. It's like in the few minutes my Firefox crashed, we instantaneously got over $3,000! I really couldn't believe my eyes, it's all thanks to you guys. Two thumbs up to everyone! _awesome_

07-25-2009, 10:53 PM
Guys, this was an amazing marathon. Though I couldn't donate, I promoted like crazy. I can't wait to see you all in August for Mega Man! And then Pokemon later on. But yes, I'm happy knowing that I was there to see all of it! Congrats to TSG and the donators! You guys are all awesome.

07-28-2009, 10:28 PM
i left on vacation Thursday and we were under 40k, i was sure we wouldnt make it in a day, then monday, i got some wi-fi and i saw we made it to 50k! i almost dropped my laptop, great job everyone, this was a-ma-zing

07-29-2009, 11:23 PM
We should double that next time we have a FF Marathon :p I mean we had like over 20,000 watching at one moment so what would happen if each donated 5 dollars minimum. We must get Oprah too.

07-30-2009, 12:09 PM
Wow I haven't been on here in a while. Hey everyone! Congrats to all involved! You guys raised soooo much money! Keep up the good work!

07-30-2009, 12:20 PM
GoSmitty, It's you! *huggs* Man, did a lot of us miss you. I think after this marathon, a few of our old friends are coming back. :) The words getting around about the 50k success I guess. :P

Glad to have you back Smitty.

07-30-2009, 02:17 PM
Wow I haven't been on here in a while. Hey everyone! Congrats to all involved! You guys raised soooo much money! Keep up the good work!
Holy crap! GoSmitty! I missed my City Folk pal! :D

08-05-2009, 12:29 AM
I was very glad to not just the first goal reached, but the second goal of 50,000 as well. Sadly I had no interment the last day, so I had just kept my fingers crossed until I had a chance to check. Thanks to everyone who donated, and thank you TSG for all your hard work and for coming up with such a great idea.
