View Full Version : Promotion is key to Pokemon Marathon

TheSpeedGamers

Our Pokemon marathon is expected to be our most popular by far. We cannot waste the opportunity at hand. I'm doing my best to spread the word, and if any of you guys could help promote too, that would be awesome!

Google Pokemon forums, or search for any Pokemon sites in general.

Thanks in advance, and also thnks to everyone else who's already been helping promoting

Britt

P.S, I'll try and see if we can get promotion badges made

Actually I wish it were always off. It's a resource hog and is distracting. At very least it should be completely disabled during the marathon to prevent issues with the Flash stream.

What do you... _triforce_ _dead_ :P

I mean from a usability perspective. When anyone seriously tries to read text on a screen animations will distract the eye, making it harder to follow along. The snow is all over the place, adding another distraction to the already bad design choice of small white text over a black background.

Then there's the fact that viewing that page with the snow enabled will ramp up your processor usage (a good 50% for me) which will cause a much more frequent lagging when we've got the marathon feed up there.

While I don't have the problem reading the text, I do agree with you on the lagging during the marathon being a bad idea.

Maybe they'll take the snow off when it's time for the marathon, then put it back when it's finished.

This is from back in August, so nothing about this Marathon, but it's really cool to see TSG spreading this far.

You're welcome, but thank Sonic as well. He's the one who named a MissingNo. after me.

Indeed we need to keep advertising now, especially in this final week. If anyone has made a pitch which was not followed, then send them a respectful reminder about the event. Even if the promise was made, but not an article, such as my contact with Nintendo World Report, send them a reminder with the basic info.

They made three posts:

If you guys are planning on doing another Pokemon marathon next year, I have a sweet suggestion that I bet would really rake in the donations. See if you can involve Nintendo into a trade using GTS. Both you and Nintendo would share friend codes and then trade one Pokemon between each other. It could be a specially created "event" Pokemon that only the winner of the game would get (Nintendo could even use a unique OT, say the name of the charity) And even better, it might even get promotion on pokemon.com... Imagine how much you could raise with the charity next year with something as exclusive as that =)

Anyway, just an idea that I thought about.

^They're not gonna be trading with anyone outside of the house; even Nintendo. Don't worry, they already got a way of getting them all legit, and in the house. Plus, they've already got a 2nd annual attempt next December, this december.

If Nintendo themselves offered a trade, I sincerely doubt that they'd pass it up.
