View Full Version : Submit your TSG Pumpkins here

TheSpeedGamers
10-01-2009, 09:01 AM
Wed like for the community to send in pictures of their own TSG themed pumpkin carvings. During our marathon we will give away different awards for the pumpkin carvings. For example, most original, funniest..ect. Also, if youd like to create a stencil for your carving, be sure to send that in too so other members can recreate your art. We will compile a slideshow of all the pumpkin submissions we received and play it during the Halloween marathon. Start sending in your carvings today! Remember that you dont need to be an artist, this is all in good fun.
You can drop your submissions in the forum topic here and Fanart@TheSpeedGamers.com

Sounds funny and interesting. I've never done anything like this before, Halloween isn't that big in Europe except maybe on TV, but no "trick or treat" or Halloween-themed houses or anything. I need to get a pumpkin.

I probably won't be carving pumpkins any time soon because I wouldn't want it rotting before Halloween. But I may do a few when it gets closer.

Aw man, I'd love to participate in this, but all the pumpkins around here are deeeaaadddddd. All the rain we had over the summer killed them all, ALL OF THEM, DEAD. The only survivors were the ones with SUPERIOR GENES METAL GEEARRRR and they're so ridiculously expensive.

I'd love to see what everyone else can come up with, jack-o-lanterns are just so cool. No matter how you carve them they look so magical lit up at night, ooh, I'm so excited for Halloween. Best of luck, everyone!
maybe ill try making one of the traceable designs?

Oh man, I agree, I think it would be positively rad to see all sorts of crazy fruits and veggies with TSG stuff carved in them.

And before I forget, some helpful tips and guides for making stencils with Photoshop and the like (using my extensive Google prowess!) :

i might try making some stencils for this

EDIT:
Key to pumpkin carving
1. cut a circle with blade cutting inwards making a cone like shape so its a lid
2. make sure to scrape out all your seeds and innards and make sure to scrape extra on the side that your gonna be carving on so its easier
3. after that make sure you just tape your stencil up and then cut it out or mark it out and carve using w/e technique you plan to
4. and to preserve your pumpkin until Halloween put it in a bath tube full of water
5. and if you dont have a candle try using a small flash light if you have to etc.

EDIT again: tried to make some stencils of the tsg logo and the omg boom pin

I used google images to find a gengar, then I blacked him out using photoshop. U could do the same with paint though if that's all you have. You can send in your pumpkins up until the marathon starts. To be safe I'd say by about the 28th-29th.

I'm pretty sure it's really easy with photoshop. If you don't have it though you could try downloading Gimp if you don't already have it and try finding a youtube tutorial on how to black out the image. Or ask someone because I know there's some Gimp pros here.

Soooo... I picked out the pumpkin, then I went online and found a picture of Pikachu... I cut it out and taped it on the pumpkin. I poked holes (traced it) in the pumpkin, then i took the skin of the pumpkin off because I didn't want to just cut a huge hole in it... You can put a light in and it still lights up!

Pika-Pumpkin! Way cool. I've always wished I could get the hang of that relief-style pumpkin carving (where you just cut away the outer rind but leave some of the inner part), but I am far too clumsy and always wind up cutting straight through.

I got the silliest idea for a TSG-related pumpkin, but I don't know if I'll be able to pull it off. We'll see, my friends..

Awesome pumpkins hyperchild.

@Mikey;
Thanks for the gourd suggestion, I never thought of that until you mentioned it. I'll go looking this weekend for some, if not, I've got some new paring knives that I may be able to carve apple lanterns with.

Also, if you're still wondering, pumpkins that big usually have rinds about an inch to an inch and a half thick. Everything else tends to be about a half inch... I think.
