Keep in mind that all the names of the countries have been switched around. Prasinia is a blend between cold war-era Russia, North Korea, and The Fire Nation. It is a nation of many secrets and a high child mortality rate. Fearing for their youngest child's life, a family of four tries to escape the country using an intricate plan involving family friends, poker buddies, the family of the friends of the older child, and a submarine provided by the Oppidian Navy. Prasinia would do anything to keep the national secrets secret. Only one person has ever escaped the country before. Conveniently, she was the mother of the man in charge of the operation.
It was a very rainy August day in the eastern coast of Prasinia when this operation went into effect. It was a small team working against the government, some members as old as their 60s, others as young as 8, with a 5 year old among their ranks. Everyone had a role to play, even the children. The Ned Flanders-like Victor had to keep watch for any enemy reinforcements. The genetically gifted child Demitri had to knock out any guards that proved to be an obstacle. The young brave Boris had to infiltrate the port, find a good hiding spot facing the sea, and scout for the submarine.
Everything was going so smoothly, then just when everyone was about to make a break for it, green lightning struck most of them as Imperial Guards stormed the port, some more literally than others. There was a saboteur in the midst, and it was Demitri. The head of the operation Nikita Blokhin tells his son Boris to jump into the sea and swim for the submarine. As Boris was falling with a rubberlike hammerspace backpack full of supplies, devices and precious cargo, Demitri tried to strike Boris by shooting green lightning out of his hands. He missed twice. However as soon as Boris hit the water, Demitri threw a third lightningbolt at the water, knocking Boris out in one hit.
Boris' backpack opens. His little sister Ludmilla emerges from it wearing a scuba mask and goggles, and gives her brother a pair. The 5 year old takes her older brother's hand and swims for the submarine, the others at the port believing them to be dead. Eventually boarding the submarine, the older Blokhin child is rushed to the ship's infirmary.
The captain of the submarine informs the little girl that her brother will be alright, and that she saved his life. A silver clocklike item spontaneously appears before her. It's an extra life, a device created by the keeper of time Shijian to rewind time by a few minutes or so in the event of death, giving the user another chance. It is only obtainable to those who saved a life. Ludmilla grabs it, and the captain asks her if she loves superheroes and fears those who come from the underworld. After hearing her answer, the captain remarks that she's going to like her new residence.
9 years pass.
The Year is 2020. The Planet is Earth. The Country is Oppidia. The Province is Anglia. The City is Siren City, home of the retired thief Nadezhda Blokhin and her two grandchildren Boris and Ludmilla. A month and a half ago, the city was saved from the brink of destruction by Cutron McGee, Slime "Eddie" Ball, Michael Espersito, and the Dephillinator Twins, Positive and Negative. Now those four or five are about to team up with six more people to save the world from falling into the clutches of darkness.
This is the prologue to the second of 5 games in a series I am planning.
