Hey guys. What I'll be doing with this thread is review anything that was released recently, such as a book or a movie, and yes, games, and sometimes on occasion, a TV show's latest season. I'm gonna give a fair and honest review as much as possible!
Men in Black 3
Some of the best memories that remind me of the good times I had in the early 21st century were watching Men in Black 1 and 2. Although many said that the second wasn't that great, or at least not as good as the first, I still enjoyed it. Many speculated that the third installment in the series wouldn't be as good as the first, since it had been so long since the release of the first two, and also that the second was a flop. I still gave the movie a shot, because I was excited to see it ever since I first heard the news.
Now, the plot of the movie is pretty simple. J and K are still partners since the first two movies, and they get a new case, which involves an alien named Boris who escapes from a moon prison to exact revenge on K, who put him away 40+ years ago. Boris goes back in time and kills K of the past. J is the only one who remembers K, and tries to find a way to go back in time and save him and earth from Boris.
The cast wasn't much to brag about, to be completely honest. Other than Smith and Jones, none of the original characters made a debut (such as Zed (though he did appear briefly, different actor, however), Jeebs, who was played by Tony Shaloub, or Frank the Pug, though he is mentioned in the background at one point of the movie). The only characters I really remember returning were the worms, and the one doorman of the Men in Black. I was honestly surprised about a few actors/actresses being in the movie, especially Emma Thompson, Jemaine Clement, and, no joke, Bill Hader played a very minor role in this film. I was quite surprised at that actor playing a part in particular.
The music wasn't bad, of course, I'm a sucker for the two MIB themes (Afraid I can't find either one, though), but what the heck compelled them to put that Pitbull song in there? It didn't sound good at all at least to me. That's coming from someone who was ecstatic when Strange Brew by Cream came on in the background.
That's about all I have to say about it, I enjoyed the movie, probably one of the few people on this forum that did. From a scale of 1-10 I'd give it a 6.75 as an MIB fan, a 5 if I wasn't, mainly because it got a bit ridiculous towards the end (every movie deserves to be ridiculous once in a while, though) and the plot was fairly simple, plus, I didn't feel as nostalgic as I wanted to in this movie (especially when I realized the characters I mentioned wouldn't make a return).
