The way I see it, if done right, a remake is the best way for Hoenn to "redeem" itself. Do something to make the sea routes more tolerable, even if that means shortening or removing some of them, and add various tweaks and upgrades here and there. Gen 2 was easily my least favorite gen by the time DP were released, but HGSS are my favorite Pokemon games now.

Edit: I wonder if/hope the Emerald Battle Frontier will be back. Even though some of the facilities were annoying (mainly the one where you couldn't control your Pokemon), I liked that iteration better than the one in gen 4, or the Battle Subway in gen 5. I also hope there is more non-frontier related post game content, which X/Y was severely lacking.

Well, as someone who could actually tolerate the sea routes, I have no reason not to be excited. Gen 3 was my favorite (don't hurt me) so I'm definitely glad to see this announcement. As for fixing the sea routes though, they've shown in the past that they're willing to rescale things, like in HG/SS's Viridian Forest (or all of Kanto for that matter, but Viridian is one of the more extreme and specific examples.) Except in this case, they'd have to make them smaller instead of bigger. Or they could add a new area in between them somewhere. As for me, I'm just hoping they throw some diversity in there. They have plenty of Water-types, so they have no excuse not to use them. But yeah, definitely hyped for land-Hoenn because I personally loved it.

I'm probably using Treecko. It was the first one I used in the originals, so I don't see why not. I've used Swampert so many times in other games and I just used Blaziken in X, so no way I'm using it again for a long time.

Oh, almost forgot; they better fix the rival too. That's one huge problem with the games. Seriously, after the sea routes, I think this was the next big problem with the games, so something needs to be done about that.

Mega Tentacruel and Mega Pelipper. Mark my words.

Oh, and watch them give Blaziken another Mega, along with giving Typhlosion and Infernape Megas, while every other starter gets nothing.

I'm very pleased with this announcement. Got to say, it was something I thought would never come true. Thank you Nintendo for turning it around.

One of my thoughts of the game is the possibility that Hoenn has changed? New world right? the other idea is just that there's another mini region that will play a role. We got hints from tourists/NPCs in Pokemon X/Y. Remember that lady who talked about the waterfall that flows water from the bottom up? Maybe we'll see that here.

Now with Gen 3 Remakes abroad, I'm definite this will affect the XY anime. A lot of Kalos Pokemon are appearing one after the other. By then, Hoenn Pokemon are sure to take a focus. Heck, I'm sure Serena is gonna get a Pokemon natively from Hoenn. Perhaps a starter Pokemon. May got both Bulbasaur and Squirtle for FRLG promotion. Dawn also got a Cyndadquil from HGSS promotion. Although I can't see Serena with any of the Hoenn starters. We'll just have to see what the writers do when it comes to promoting Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.

I'm also hoping for the return of contests, secret bases and Battle Frontier (with a much better battling system).

Will Team Magma and Aqua return? Or something new to face against?

Will Wallace still be the Champion? And can we fight Steven?

That waterfall wouldn't be special anyway, we've already seen one in the Distortion world. What was the exact quote? Anyone remember that?

Screenshot of a new area in the game. It's rumored that it will play a major part in the story.

Holy crap, I'm not the only person here who thinks this (particularly the first and last 2 sentences I quoted)! Hoenn's water routes aren't perfect (the biggest problem being diversity in wild Pokemon), but they get way more hate than they deserve, IMO.

Re: Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire- Worldwide November 2014

You guys are a bunch of pussies, whining about the sea routes. The games ask if you want to renew your Repels now, and by the time you have to start Surfing, the cost of 30 Super Repels should be an afterthought! And this is BEFORE you get the Amulet Coin, mind you! Plus, I find the Surfing music peaceful.

Still, they could use an upgrade in scenery. No idea what they could do, maybe a few beaches where you can find Spheal or something? I can't off the top of my head think of any land Pokemon that could go on an island in the middle of the sea. Bug-types? Flying-types?
Hiatus over. Not really focusing on gaming at the moment, but I miss this place too much.
