Re: Zelda Marathon Hyrule vs Lorule feedback thread

I didn't really watch the marathon much but I figure this would be the best place to post this. Since finding TSG in 2008, seeing all the community members I remember talking to back in the day meeting up, being best friends and even dating/getting married is mindblowing. I still remember when a lot of those people made their introduction threads and first few forum posts, now here they are. It never really hit me how much TSG changed so many peoples' lives until now.

What I'm basically trying to say is that even if future TSG marathons may never be as popular as the old ones, it's totally okay, because you guys had your era of fame and you're still doing what you all love: meeting up with your second family you met on the internet and playing video games to help people out. This is definitely the most beautiful thing I saw online ever, so yeah, keep it going. I just wanted to let you all know that and I'm so glad to have been apart of it for so long.

Thanks Nico! I very much believe the best is yet to come

In regards to scheduling. A lot of changes happen constantly for many reasons. People only being in town for a few days, visiting family on certain days or times, birthdays, even not being certain they'll be at the marathon at all until super last minute.
Add in scheduling everything while trying to keep the points between Hyrule and Lorule even as much as possible and we got a recipe for headaches!

It wasn't perfect but it is something we work on tirelessly and will continue to do so to make it the best it can be.

Re: Zelda Marathon Hyrule vs Lorule feedback thread

I was a part of the marathon, so maybe my opinion shouldn't be as important as non-attendees, but I just wanted to address this since so many people complained about the scheduling of ocarina and wind waker primarily - I know very well how complicated the scheduling was and why it was the way it was, that said though, we could have done things differently. Instead of doing 3 ocarina runs the exact same category and 3 wind waker runs the exact same category (I do realize gendarme was SUPPOSED to play GCN but in the end playing HD had little impact on the run), perhaps we should limit runs to one per category, ESPECIALLY with the longer games. I'm sure nobody would have bat an eye at A Link to the Past being run 3 times the same way and nobody complained about Zelda 1 being played 3 times because those games are so short.

I would suggest we capitalize on having players offering backup and/or multiple games to add runs into the marathon locked behind a donation wall more as that seemed to be popular with the OoT race and the Zelda 1 2nd Quest.

Last, mad props to Rudy and Untuxable for making this marathon look way better than the best of our previous marathons. More mad props to Britt and L'oren for giving up their home and privacy for a week and putting up with an invasion of nerds. And a huge I'm sorry for being so soft spoken on camera! I didn't even realize how impossible I was to hear until I was highlighting things after the marathon.

Runs as donation incentives are a very popular thing in the GDQs, so maybe that could work for TSG too, I feel like it did during Zeldathon.

Most definitely! We saw how much of a difference it made and in future marathons, especially the week longs, we will have ideas prepared.
